Elect Wendy DePaul for Circuit Court Judge
Wendy DePaul wants to bring her 22 years of legal experience and her commitment to fairness to the judicial bench.
DePaul is the managing partner of Cohen & DePaul, PA, a firm she founded in 2004, where she focuses on the practice of family law, foreclosure defense, collections and bankruptcy. She also has experience in corporate, probate, criminal defense, property and civil law.
She is committed to helping her community and making sure people have access to counsel and the courts no matter their income level. That’s why she has volunteered at Bay Area Legal Services since 2011 and joined its Board of Directors in 2013. She provides intake services, handles pro bono cases and volunteers at family forms and violence injunction clinics. Her pro bono work has been recognized by the Florida Supreme Court for the last four years and she serves on the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee.
She cares deeply about children and their safety and was appointed by the Hillsborough County Commission to be a Child Care Licensing Hearing Officer.
Being a dog owner, DePaul loves animals and is passionate about protecting them. She volunteers at Rescue Cats of Florida and the Pet Resource Center. She co-chairs the fundraising event “To The Rescue!”. She has been appointed by two county commissioners to Hillsborough County’s Animal Advisory Committee and chaired that committee in 2018-2019.
Faith and family are important to DePaul. She’s married to Dan Berman and has an adult son. She is active with her congregation and served on its Board of Directors from 2017 to 2019.
She is active with the Bar, co-chairing community outreach in 2019 and volunteering for law week. She assisted in creating the Bankruptcy Forms Clinic, where she volunteers.
DePaul earned her Juris Doctor at Stetson University College of Law and was admitted to the Bar in 1997. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida State University and was awarded her CPA in 1995.
